Practical, real-world sessions covering communication, budgeting, cooking, personal safety, travel training and independence skills. Essential preparation for young people transitioning to adulthood, particularly those at risk of becoming NEET.
Life Skills sessions are hands-on and practical, covering the everyday skills that many young people leaving education without the right support can miss out on: budgeting, cooking, personal safety, communication and independent travel. Sessions are delivered both on-site and, where appropriate, in real community settings so that skills are practised in the environments young people will actually use them in.
Each young person's Life Skills plan is built around their own transition goals, whether that is preparing for college, an apprenticeship, employment, or simply greater independence at home.
Practical, employment-readiness and independence skills for young people not in education, employment or training.
Preparation for the practical demands of independent living, college or the workplace.
A structured, low-pressure re-engagement route built around real-world skills.
Life skills broken into manageable, individually-paced steps for young people with SEND.
Off-site and community-based Life Skills sessions run to increased staff ratios and a pre-assessed route or destination, with staff checking in with a Designated Safeguarding Lead before and after any lone community-based session.
As with every L-Fit Pathways provision, Life Skills is delivered under the direct oversight of our joint Designated Safeguarding Leads, Adam Byrne and Craig Lloyd, both Level 5 Safeguarding/DSL trained and Enhanced DBS checked, in line with KCSIE 2026 and our full Safeguarding & Compliance framework.
