Qualified Forest School delivery in a natural outdoor setting. Young people develop problem-solving, teamwork, independence and resilience through guided outdoor experiences, away from the pressure of a traditional classroom.
Our Forest School sessions take place in a natural outdoor setting and follow recognised Forest School principles: learner-led exploration, achievable risk, and regular, repeated contact with the same outdoor space over time. Activities include shelter building, tool use appropriate to age and ability, fire-lighting (led by a qualified leader), and nature-based teamwork tasks.
Away from the four walls of a classroom, many young people who struggle to engage indoors find a different kind of focus and confidence outdoors. Every session is planned around a written, activity-specific risk assessment covering weather, tools, terrain and staff ratios.
Achievable outdoor challenges that build a genuine sense of accomplishment.
Young people who become dysregulated or disengaged in a traditional classroom environment.
Group-based outdoor tasks that build cooperation and communication naturally.
An open, sensory-rich environment that can suit young people who find indoor settings overstimulating.
Every outdoor session runs to a written risk assessment covering weather, tool use, fire safety and terrain, with a minimum of two staff present and any tool-based or fire-lighting activity led only by a qualified Forest School leader.
As with every L-Fit Pathways provision, Forest School is delivered under the direct oversight of our joint Designated Safeguarding Leads, Adam Byrne and Craig Lloyd, both Level 5 Safeguarding/DSL trained and Enhanced DBS checked, in line with KCSIE 2026 and our full Safeguarding & Compliance framework.
